Blake's say . . . . . . . . . . .
More Fun than a Wii
I thought the water pistol was cool as. I liked how they mixed up all the ingredients and pretended to spew, i could see they were pretending because they had water bottles and they were drinking it and then they vomited. I liked the bit when Nana was a ninja, at first I thought they were telling the truth, it looked real. I liked when they threw clothes around the room and when the Nana pretended to be a Ninja.

Sticks
I thought sticks was awesome because we got to do it by ourselves, I thought it was cool how we only had a little bit of stuff and we created it with them and we did really good. I liked it how we were balancing ourselves and learning about balance. I liked how it stood it was marvelous how we had a flower coming out of the test tube.
After seeing Lemony Snicket's the composer is dead I tried to have a conversation with Blake about what he learnt, to say the least this conversation did not go very far he said "nothing". I actually had a feeling that this might happen, as the main actor was speaking at such a fast rate it would have been hard for the younger kids to understand what was going on.
The main actor did a great job in terms of capturing the audiences attention, making the kids laugh, he had such a high energy and portrayed many characters in an entertaining manner.
I feel that it was the script that let this show down, it is more suited to an older audience due to the way it was played out. The idea of investigating the Orchestra is brilliant the whole concept is great, it just failed to hit the target audience in terms of gaining an understanding of the Orchestra.

The paper boat river, Blake loves folding and making things with paper so I thought this was a sure hit, but once the boat was made it was unfolded and turned into a paper plane, this is where his heart is, he loves making paper planes. He made a few for the other kids that were in there at the time.
So for us it was planes flying over the paper boat river. Blake enjoyed this free activity. So many boats loved the concept!!

So far we have spent two days at OOTB and although we have not had a chance to blog about everything that we have been to wish that we were able to go and see more things, there are so many great workshops that we would have loved to gone to. It was really hard to choose what to go and see on the days that we could make it and I feel that this was due to the fact that it finished so early I would loved to have been able to make it to another show/workshop each day. There is so much limitation as everything seemed to be clashing, in reality I feel that we needed 3 full days at OOTB but this is not manageable for most people, I would have preferred to go and do as much as we possibly could each day. I would have liked to see a few activities running after school as it falls on a long weekend when generally a lot is going on it makes it hard for families to make it to out of the box.

The free activities are great, they are perfect to do in between shows. They are fast and easy activities. I knew a few people working for the state Library and they got slammed and found it all extremely exhausting. Well done to all those who worked really hard to support of the children.

Great Day at OOTB

Amococo

Well we loved it!!!! Sorry to all those who spent ages waiting outside to get in!!! We spent ages chilling out in the little alcoves, firstly chatting and relaxing after a busy morning at OOTB, then we started a crazy photo shoot with much much laughter and lots of strange glances from onlookers.

Blake talks of the colours and all of the dead ends and how he loved trying to get lost and then find his way around again. Few words from Blake . . . . . . . . . . "I just Loved it"
As soon as we got there Blake started asking Q's he wanted to know how it stays up, he thought they must be blowing air into it. He hunted down where the air was coming from as soon as we were in.
For Blake Amococo was very intriguing he loves making and building things. He really appreciated all of the colours and way that it was constructed in the larger areas.

There have been a few discussions about Amococo and most people felt that it should have been free, Blake and I really enjoyed Amococo but we did not have to pay, if we did have to pay I would have thought about it and are not to sure if we would have gone in.

These are a few of the pics that we took while inside . . . . . . . ..

Amazing show

Written Report By Blake about his favourite show today;

Amazing show
Today I went to an amazing circus pirate show. They did exciting tricks, stunts and flips. They juggled swards or knives. The volunteer I think actually was part of the show because she knew what to do.

Discussion with Blake about what he observed at the Pirate show:
  • Fantastic stage design it really looked like a pirate ship.
  • Great timing for sounds like when they fell of the boat there was splash sound.
  • They have everything ready to be put on stage
  • loved there tricks, I felt amazed

Pirates was an all round great show!!!! All of the performers had a great stage presence, there show constantly captured the audience due to its high energy routine. The stage was well designed with the tramp being used to get up and down from the boat, it created a smooth flow that enabled the performers to keep up the pace when moving around the stage. The audience adults and children all seemed to really enjoy this show!!!!

Blake has been asking me for ages to go back to Circus he was going to Circa on a sat morning and loved it, after watching the young kids on stage today I feel that I need to book him back in. He loves circus and it helps kids to gain confidence, Blake is such a little performer as it is, he always is acting out characters and making us all laugh.

So much more to write about what we saw at OOTB but that will have to wait.
